The W' Balance Model: Managing Anaerobic Battery in High-Intensity Efforts

Demystifying Critical Power and W' (W-Prime)

Critical Power represents the theoretical asymptote of sustainable aerobic metabolism. Any effort above Critical Power consumes your finite anaerobic battery, known as W' (measured in Joules or kJ).

Real-Time W' Depletion and Recovery

When you surge above CP, W' depletes rapidly. When you drop below CP, dynamic reconstitution occurs. Ability.ICU models your dynamic '_{ ext{bal}}$ to reveal if you paced your attacks effectively or blew your matches too early in the event.
